Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in golf, and how did you get started?
– I’ve been playing golf since I was six years old, competing in high school, college, and even professionally for a few years in my 20s. While I loved the game, I realized I had passions beyond just playing competitively. Pursuing a career on tour would have required me to give up a lot, and I wanted more balance in my life. The PGA of America was the perfect fit—it allowed me to stay connected to the game, continue competing, expand my knowledge, and surround myself with like-minded professionals.
Q: What does it mean to you to serve on the SCPGA Board of Directors?
– Serving on the SCPGA Board of Directors is an incredible honor. It gives me the opportunity to learn, contribute, and be a voice for my fellow PGA Golf Professionals. Leadership has always been something I’ve taken pride in, and knowing that my peers recognized that quality in me is truly rewarding.
Q: What advice would you offer girls everywhere who are thinking about pursuing a career in the golf industry?
– Being a woman in the golf industry isn’t a disadvantage—it’s an opportunity. Some might feel hesitant about being in the minority, but I see it as a strength. The industry needs more women, and golfers everywhere would benefit from greater representation. There are so many career paths within golf, and I truly believe there’s a place for everyone in this game.
Q: What does it mean to you to be part of the 27% of women in the golf world in the United States? How does that number continue to grow?
– I’m incredibly proud to be part of the women leading the way in this industry. It’s exciting to see more women entering the golf world, and I believe the opportunities will only continue to grow. The game of golf isn’t going anywhere, and as more women step into leadership roles, we’re making it easier for others to follow in our footsteps.
Q: How do you think the golf industry can continue to support and encourage more women to pursue careers in the sport?
– We need to share stories like mine and those of my fellow PGA Women Golf Professionals. Representation matters. Inviting more women to the game, highlighting career opportunities within the PGA of America, and showcasing roles beyond traditional paths will help attract younger generations to the industry.
Q: Can you share a memorable experience or achievement in your golf career that has been especially meaningful to you?
– One of the highlights of my career was being awarded the SCPGA 2021 Player Development Award for the programs I’ve built at Monarch Beach Golf Links. Creating opportunities for golfers of all skill levels and backgrounds has been incredibly fulfilling. Being recognized by my peers—who are all so deserving—made the honor even more special.
