CARLSBAD, CA – So Young Hwang of Las Vegas, Nevada, is the 2021 Women’s California State Open champion with rounds of 73 – 72, for a one-over a par total of 145 at La Costa Resort.

Finishing two-shots clear of the field, Hwang’s even par finish in the second round was the steady play she needed to find the winners circle “I’m so excited to pick up the win today, this is actually my second win for this year.”

“This week my short game was great, but the course was playing firm so I just tried to keep focusing on my routines,” said Hwang after her victory.

Amatuer Meghan Royal of Carlsbad snuck up the leaderboard and was in the mix coming down the stretch. With five birdies on today’s final round, Meghan posted the low round of the tournament with a two-under par, 70 and finished runner-up, claiming Low Amateur honors in the process with rounds of 77 – 70.
