One Moore Title

Haley Moore of Escondido is the 2019 Women’s California State Open Champion after posting a seven-under par, 137 total on the Legends Course at La Costa Resort.

“Winning the Women’s California State open means a lot to me as a professional and I feel pretty confident with my game right now,” Moore said after the awards ceremony conducted by SCPGA Director of Competitions Max DeSpain.

Moore’s impressive eight-under par 64 during her first round put her four strokes clear of the field going into the final round. Excelling on the par-5’s, Moore’s distance off the tees was paramount for her stellar performance in the final round, coasting to a three-shot victory after a smooth 73.

“I was pretty dialed in on the par 5’s, I focused on my targets and hit some great shots that made my round pretty good. Today I just told myself to stay patient out there and that birdies would come.”

Claiming Low-Amateur honors was Alyaa Abdulghany of Newport Beach posting rounds of 68 and 72 for a 36-hole total of 140. Abdulghany brings past experience of this event to the table, as she was the Champion of the inaugural Women’s California State Open in 2016.

“I was just taking it one shot at a time and with the later tee times I took advantage some great pin positions, said Abdulghany while hosting the Low-Amateur trophy.

Abdulghany is prodigy of the Southern California PGA Junior Tour system saying, “It’s wonderful to see the younger generation of female golfers hitting it so much further and its really good to know that the next generation of girls has events like this to compete in.”

Congratulations to Eun A Kwack of Palm Desert for her first competitive Hole-in-One during her final round on the 150 yard, 6th hole.
