Inaugural Jane Anderson Memorial Tournament

Benefiting the Southern California PGA Foundation

PAUMA VALLEY, CA — The first annual Jane Anderson Memorial Tournament, held at the exquisite Pauma Valley Country Club, was an extraordinary and unforgettable occasion, surpassing all expectations. The event brought together fourteen bright and talented recipients of the SCPGA Scholarship, who displayed their remarkable skills alongside esteemed club members from various Southern California regions. It was a true celebration of golf, camaraderie, and the spirit of giving back.

Among the outstanding participants was Connor Williams, a promising young talent who was an incoming University of Arizona Freshman and the proud recipient of the esteemed 2023 Bob McCurry Scholarship award. Teaming up with three dedicated amateur partners, Connor showcased his exceptional abilities and led his team to a resounding victory with an awe-inspiring 23 under-net score. Their performance was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving spectators in awe and admiration.

The tournament’s climactic finale was a splendid dinner, graced by the presence of distinguished guest speakers from the golfing and football world. Among them was Mo Martin, a renowned LPGA Tour professional and SCPGA Foundation Board member, whose words of wisdom and encouragement inspired everyone present. Additionally, the gathering had the privilege of welcoming Super Bowl Champion Walter Thurmond III, who shared his personal journey of success and the values that led him to achieve greatness.

However, the true highlight of the evening was not just the inspiring speeches but the meaningful impact they had on the SCPGA Juniors in attendance. Each of these talented young golfers received an unexpected and heartwarming surprise—an additional $1,000 in Scholarship Funds. This generous gesture reaffirmed the dedication of the SCPGA Foundation to supporting and nurturing promising talents within the sport, ensuring a brighter future for golfing enthusiasts across the region.

The tournament’s success was further amplified by the overwhelming support of donors and sponsors, whose contributions helped raise a staggering total of nearly $30,000, directly benefiting the SCPGA Foundation’s Grant and Scholarship program. This substantial amount will undoubtedly create new opportunities and open doors for countless aspiring golfers, enabling them to pursue their dreams and reach new heights in their golfing journey.
