PALM DESERT, CA (August 17, 2020) – Kyle Kelly brought the heat at Desert Willow Resort, winning The Stroke Play Classic with a six-under par, 66.

It was a bunched up leaderboard in the blistering desert heat for one of the final events of the 2020 Section Player of the Year point race. 13 players were sub 70, with a five-way tie for second place.

Kelly of Tamarisk Country Club rattled off a blemish free round that included four birdies and an eagle in route to a one stroke victory.

Congratulations to Kerby Pert with Callaway Golf for claiming the lone skin with a birdie on the par three 13thhole.

The SoCal Open followed by the Section Championship, both in September, will conclude the 2020 SCPGA Player of the year point race.

Special thanks to Host PGA Professionals Ryan Szydlowski & Jason Wilkinson and Desert Willow Resort along with partners PGA TOUR and ASO Water for their support of the event.
