Stroke Play Classic #2

Saticoy Club | May 17, 2021

SOMIS, CA – PGA professional Brian Smock of Coronado Golf Course conquered The Saticoy Club’s undulating greens, high winds, and fierce competition to win the SCPGA Stroke Play Classic #2.

The second, and final, stroke play event of the year visited the scenic The Saticoy Club in the Northern Chapter and provided a tough test of golf for all 70 of the participants.

Smock’s scorecard featured an eagle, four birdies, and three bogeys en route to a three-under par 69. The highlight to his round was an impressive eagle on hole #8, a challenging par-5, which also resulted in a skin.

Smock’s nearest competitors were PGA professionals Michael Block of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club and Mike Fergin of Mesa Verde Country Club who were tied for second at one-under par 71.

Congratulations to Smock, eagle on #8, and Bobby Nickell, birdie on #13, for claiming skins.

Smock also finished on top in the Aggregate Series with a total of 138 from the stroke play rounds at Avondale GC & The Saticoy Club. Mike Fergin, Al Geiberger and Nate Williams tied for second with a 140 aggregate total and also received the bonus payout.

Special thanks to host PGA professional Justin Saragueta and The Saticoy Club along with partner Aso Young Power Foods for their support of the event. Finally, special thank you to the Rules Officials Gary Albin, Bob Lowe and Gerald Wong for donating their time.
