Hart, Sorensen, Fergin & Holtby Punch Tickets To Senior PGA Championship!
AUSTIN, Texas (Oct. 6, 2019) – Jeff Hart, Chad Sorensen, Mike Fergin, and Paul Holtby all finished within the top 35 at the 31st Senior PGA Professional Championship (Senior PPC) and have earned exemption into the 2020 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores Resort in Benton Harbor, Michigan, May 19-24.
Hart, a PGA Life Member rallied down the stretch and posted four birdies in the last five holes to finish tied for second in the 31st Championship which was hosted at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, October 3-6, 2019. Placing within the top five of the field earned Hart exemption into the final stage of the 2019 PGA Tour Champions National Finals.
Playing in his first Senior PPC, Sorensen of Beuna Vista Golf Course finished tied for sixth at ten-under par, 276 and will join Hart with another exemption into next year’s Senior PPC to be hosted in Port St. Lucie, Florida Oct. 15-18, 2020.
Fergin of Mesa Verde Country Club made a mid-day charge up the leaderboard, jumping three positions and claiming a share of tenth place with a four-day total of eight-under par, 278.
Holtby of the Golf Development Complex will round out the pack of confirmed SCPGA Members heading to Michigan for the Senior PGA Championship after a four-day total of five under par, 281.
Earning the second alternate honors, and a very likely ticket to Michigan was Rick Garboski of Golf Development Complex after finishing tied for 35th, and then carding a birdie in the fifth playoff hole.
ROUND ONE RECAP: Twelve Southern California PGA members are competing this week in Austin, Texas at the 31st Senior PGA Professional Championship hosted at the Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa. Playing both the Fazio Foothills Course and the Coore Crenshaw Cliffside Courses, the field will be cut after 36-holes to top 90+ ties, and cut again at 54-holes to 70+ ties.
