SCPGA Foundation Makes $5,000 Donation to Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino

ONTARIO, California – The Southern California PGA Foundation has provided a donation of $5,000 to Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino. The financial contribution comes during a challenging time when the Inland Empire will rely heavily on food banks during the COVID-19 situation.

The game of golf and charitable contributions go hand in hand. The SCPGA Foundation is committed to supporting the youth of Southern California. To be able to assist in this great time of need within our community, is something we are proud to be in the position to do on behalf of our entire SCPGA community of PGA Professionals, donors, and junior golf families.

It is estimated that with every $1 donated, Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino will be able to serve up to nine meals to those who desperately need it. The SCPGA Foundation’s donation will provide 45,000 meals to youth living in the Inland Empire. This equates to two meals per day during the school week.

“The Southern California PGA Foundation feels it is important to give back to those in need, especially during challenging times. Local schools are closed for the next eight weeks and we just want to do our best to ensure the families of the Inland Empire are supported. We hope this gift inspires more organizations and individuals in the Inland Empire to show support where it is needed” said SCPGA Foundation Director Matt Gilson.

Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino’s mission is to alleviate hunger in the Inland Empire. Their goal is to create a community where everyone has access to an adequate and nutritious food supply.

The Inland Empire consists of the following major cities: Riverside, San Bernardino, Fontana, Barstow, Ontario, Colton, and Moreno Valley. Poverty within the Inland Empire is higher than the national and state average.

Donations are critical during times of crisis. Cash contributions, food donations, and volunteer drivers are welcomed and appreciated. The easiest ways to make a gift can be to visit FeedingIE.org/donate or by texting HUNGERFREEIE to 41444.
