The PGA of America is pleased to introduce two new career consultants to serve the Northern and Southern California PGA Sections. PGA Member Kendall Murphy will serve as PGA Career Consultant for the Northern California Section and former Southern California Section PGA Member Ed Winiecki will return to the Section as their Career Consultant.

Kendall returns to his Northern California roots, having grown up in Oakland, CA. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and his Master’s degree from Saint Mary’s College of California.  He previously served as the Assistant Director and Program Coordinator of the PGA Golf Management Program at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Among his many accomplishments, Kendall serves as the Honorary President of the Southern Nevada Chapter PGA in the Southwest Section. In the Southern Nevada Chapter, Kendall was the 2019 PGA Professional of the Year, the 2018 PGA Professional of the Year and in 2016, he received the PGA Player Development Award. He has also been named the 2018 “Rebel Pride” Golf Professional of the Year.

His career has been dedicated to service having sat on PGA of America’s National Education Committee, the Advisory Council for the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship and Career Expo, and as a Board Member and Foundation Director of his former Southwest Section PGA.  As a member of the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association, he has been Chair of Programming and a Board Member of the Southern Nevada Golf Association.

PGA Member and CMAA Member Ed Winiecki joined the team of PGA Career Consultants in January and will serve the Southern California Section beginning this month. Ed has over thirty years of experience in the golf industry and was elected to PGA Membership in 2003. Over the course of his career, Winiecki has served as Assistant Professional, Head Professional, General Manager, Tournament Director, Executive Director and Regional Manager. He is certified in all six areas of expertise and is currently pursuing Master Professional. Ed recently achieved Certified Club Manager status through the Club Management Association of America.

Ed served seven years on the Board of Directors for Southern California PGA, and more recently, served seven years on the Board of Directors for the Northern California PGA where he was the Section’s Vice-President. In 2010, he was selected Golf Professional of the Year for Southern California PGA, and he received the same high honor for the Northern California PGA Section in 2017. He is the only PGA Professional to receive this accolade in both Sections.  Ed also was the 2006 Horton Smith and the 2008 Bill Strausbaugh award winner in the Southern California Section.   He is a regular guest speaker at seminars and golf colleges on club management and has been a member of the Association of Golf Merchandisers for the past 21 years.  He also volunteers time for charities, fundraisers and local junior and PGA events. Ed has raised more than $170,000 in funds for Junior Golf and Special Olympics throughout his career.

Both men will be mentored and trained for 2021 by longtime Southern California PGA Career Consultant Ken Ferrell, PGA. The SCPGA Hall of Fame inductee in 2019 will remain as part of the Career Consultant team as Aloha Section Career Consultant and support the department’s growing Executive Search efforts in California.
