John F. Hardy, MPGA
From Tunbridge Wells, England, John Hardy was introduced to the game of golf as a young man by his brother Derek. They both fell in love with the game and entered the profession and, in time,  PGA membership.
John worked as the Director of Golf at The Alisal Guest Resort in Solvang, Head Golf Professional at Big Canyon Country Club, Head Professional at Las Posas Country Club and Club Professional at Stockdale Country Club, all in Southern California.
John was dedicated to sharing his gift of the game.  He was a forward thinker and a man ahead of his time. He wrote his PGA Masters thesis “Teaching Golf The Video Way,” which led to split screen teaching.
In 2009 he and Derek became the fiftieth pair in history to become PGA 50 year members.
Along with the honor of playing in the 1967 British Open at St. Andrews, John had numerous accomplishments and was highly decorated.  He was recognized as the Northern Chapter’s Teacher of the Year in 1992 and in 1997 was awarded Golf Professional of the Year for the Southern California Section. In 2004 he was named Teacher of the Year for the Inland Empire Chapter.
In 2010 he was presented as Honorary Life Member of the SCPGA.
He was continually being recognized in the world of golf and everything came full circle when he was inducted into the Southern California PGA Hall of Fame this past December.
In the name of golf, John F. Hardy will live on forever. For many of us he’ll sit on our
shoulder as we play.
