Aliso Viejo Country Club | February 2nd, 2026

ALISO VIEJO, CA (February 2, 2026) — The Southern California PGA kicked off its 2026 season with the Mixed Professional-Professional Championship at Aliso Viejo Country Club, as Scott Cherry, PGA, of Mission Hills Country Club and Kaitlyn Ellis, PGA, of Monterey Country Club, claimed the championship with a 10-under-par total of 61.

The Mixed Professional-Professional Championship is an annual team event consisting of one male PGA Professional and one female PGA Professional, competing in a Triple Play Format: six holes Pinehurst, six holes Scramble, and six holes FourBall.

It was a perfect California sunny day to start the year, as the field of 27 teams enjoyed spotless conditions in the heart of Orange County. The duo of Cherry and Ellis posted a blemish-free card that included eight birdies and an eagle on the 9th hole.

Congratulations to our skins winners, starting with Sheffer/Nguyen, after Bryana Nguyen carded an ace on the 12th hole! Sticking with the additional skins winners on hole #2 with Lungo/King posting eagle, hole #11 with Lazare/Riegle posting eagle, hole #16 Puterbaugh/Puterbaugh posting birdie, and hole #18 with Lohman/Matlin posting eagle.

Our closest to the hole contest winners will be taking home a pair of sunglasses, courtesy of our partner Maui Jim! Stull/Stull with a shot of 9’2” on hole #5, Cherry/Ellis with a shot of 3’4” on hole #7, Nguyen/Sheffer with the ace on hole #12, and Lutz/Matsuoka with a shot of 5’7” on hole #16 were the CTP winners today.
