Brian Smock Wins First Senior Section Championship Title
Goose Greek Golf ClubJURUPA VALLEY, CALIF. (July 14-15, 2025) — Brian Smock, PGA, of Coronado Golf Course, is the SCPGA Senior Section Championship with a seven-under par, 135, at Goose Creek Golf Club.
Smock will join 10 SCPGA Section Members at the Senior PGA Professional Championship that will be held from October 23-26, 2025, at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Beginning the day one stroke off the lead, Smock displayed composed and consistent play on the back nine, recording a bogey-free stretch with two birdies to ultimately claim the lead in regulation. Smock’s final round of four-under par, 67, earns him his first Senior Section Championship title along with a $5,000 first-place payout.
“I got off to a rough start, I’m not going to lie,” said Smock. “I kind of just laughed it off and kept going, and I’m just proud of myself on how fast I got over that. There were a lot of great scores out there today. I didn’t know where I stood coming down to the final holes, so it was really nice to make a four on 18, which is one of the toughest holes in Southern California. Being able to win was pretty cool. I’m getting old, but I still have a couple of years left in me.”
