Patrick Pockels Wins 59th Southern California Open Championship By Three Strokes
Congratulations to Griffin Rhoads for taking home Low Amateur HonorsINDIAN WELLS, CA (May 13-15, 2024) – Patrick Pockels of Huntington Beach won the 59th edition of the Southern California Open Championship, finishing the 54-hole Championship at 16-under-par at Indian Wells Golf Resort.
Pockels posted a 66-65 (-13) after the first two days and was tied with Jared Sawada of Mililani, Hawaii, entering Wednesday’s final round. Pockels secured his three-shot victory on the back nine with a bogey-free 2-under 33 to take home the championship over the 222-player field and a $10,000 check.
Griffin Rhoads of Huntington Beach finished his three days with a 69-66-70=205 for an 11-under-par to take home the Low Amateur honors. Rhoads recorded all three rounds with sub-par rounds.
The SoCal Open has a storied history of past champions such as Billy Casper (68′), Gene Littler (64′), Al Geiberger (62′), Ken Venturi (61′), Olin Dutra (32′), and now Patrick Pockels has etched his name into the Championship’s legacy.
