Congratulations to Lutz/Nelson and Facchini/Yapa on taking home the top honors at the 2024 Professional-Junior Championship hosted at Victoria Club!
RIVERSIDE, CA (July 15, 2024) — Lutz/Nelson and Facchini/Yapa take home the top honors at the 2024 Professional-Junior Championship hosted at Victoria Club!
The annual event, which saw the participation of fifty-one teams, is unique in its format. It pairs a junior under the age of 18 with a PGA Professional member, offering a rare opportunity for the two generations to share the course. The Four-Ball format added an extra layer of excitement, making it a memorable day on the course for all involved.
In the Boys Division, it came down to a playoff as Matt Lutz and Cooper Nelson from Urban Golf Performance were tied at the top, with Frank Yellam, PGA, and Harlan Yapa from Victoria Club at 9-under-par. It took two playoff holes to decide the winner, as Lutz tapped in for a birdie to claim the win.
In the Girls Division, Hannah Facchini and Sarani Yapa from Victoria Club emerged victorious over the field by one stroke with a 6-under-par 66.
Congratulations to Rick Johnson, PGA, of Del Mar Country Club for capturing a skin on the par-5 14th with an eagle, and to Josh Kendall, PGA, of Lomas Santa Fe Country Club for taking the skin on the par-5 17th with an eagle.
We appreciate our Section partner, Titleist, for supporting the event, providing each junior participant with a tee gift, and providing the overall winning teams in each division with Titleist backpacks and custom golf balls.
