Brian Smock and Mark Geddes Claim Victory at Professional-Assistant Championship!
This marks Team Smock's third straight win and fifth overall in the tournament's history.LA QUINTA, CA (August 27, 2024) — Congratulations to Brian Smock, PGA, and Mark Geddes, PGA, of Coronado Golf Course, on posting a 20-under par to claim the 2024 Professional-Assistant Championship title!
Hosted at the beautiful PGA West on the Pete Dye Dunes and Mountain Courses, 197 players arrived in the Coachella Valley to compete in a two-day 36-hole Four-Ball Stroke Play event with the better gross score of the 2-person team counting towards the team score.
Smock and Geddes got off to a hot start on day one with a bogey-free 63 to lead the field after the first round. The dynamic duo fired off a stellar second round of 61, highlighted by a clean card that saw 11 birdies on the day with a span of six straight birdies. Team Coronado locked down five spots inside the top 10. This marks the third straight win for Team Smock and his fifth overall win in the tournament’s history.
“A big thank you to PGA West for having us out and the partners for helping put on this event,” said Geddes. “It was a great two days, and both courses were in great shape.” Smock added, “It was an amazing week, and Mark shot 61 on his own ball today, so I just coasted on his coattails today.”
Congratulations to the second-round low scores that will be receiving the Lap Money. Smock and Geddes with their 11-under 61 on the Mountain Course and Koll Farman, PGA, and Alex Witt, PGA, of O’Donnell Golf Club, for shooting a 9-under-par 63 on the Dunes Course.
The Garmany Golf Bucket List Trip winners were Alex Witt, PGA, of O’Donnell Golf Club and Kurt Kaufeldt of Rancho La Quinta Country Club, as the two won trips to New Zealand and Portugal, respectively.
