Alana Uriell Claims 2023 Women's California State Open; Ellie Bushenll earns Low Amateur Honors
December 18-19, 2023 | Industry Hills Golf ClubCITY OF INDUSTRY, CA (December 18-19, 2023) – Alana Uriell out of Carlsbad, Calif., goes wire-to-wire to win the 2023 Women’s California State Open with an 11-under par 65-67=132 total at Industry Hills Golf Club.
Founded in 2016, this is the 8th playing of the 36-hole stroke play Women’s California State Open with past champions that include Corina Kelepouris (2022) and Haley Moore (2019).
Playing in her first Women’s California State Open, Uriell got off to a strong start on the first day, carding a 6-under-par 65 to take a two-shot lead going into the final round. She found her groove during the final round despite Mother Nature providing rain on and off throughout the day with a 5-under par 67 to win the two-day event by six strokes. “The course played really well over the two days,” said Uriell. “I felt like I was hitting my driver really well, and it was definitely the best part of my game. I’m really glad things came together for me this week, and I’m really excited to be holding the trophy today.”
Low Amateur honors and solo second place went to Ellie Bushnell of Granite Bay, Calif., recording a two-day score of 5-under par 69-69=138 total.
