Michael Slesinski is the 2023 Enagic San Diego County Open Champion
October 24-26 | Enagic Golf Club at EastlakeCHULA VISTA, CA (October 26, 2023) – Michael Slesinski of La Quinta, California, won the Enagic San Diego County Open on the third playoff hole to claim his third professional victory in his career. Slesinski recorded a 4-under-par 67 to put himself into the playoff after a three-day score of 13-under-par with rounds of 69-64-67.
Slesinski moved up two spots on the day to put himself into a position to force a playoff against Jack Rahon, who fired a low day score of 7-under-par 64. After both players made pars on the first two playoff holes it came down to the long par-3 17th with a green protected by water and bunkers. Slesinski stuck his tee shot to eight feet to apply pressure, and Rahon unfortunately found water. All that would be needed is two putts for Slesinski to secure the victory.
“Coming into the day, I knew I had a chance to win,” said Slesinski. “I felt great about my game after a second round 64 and had some confidence going into the final round. I hit a great iron shot on 17 and was able to come away with the victory after that.”
Slesinski, a SoCal native, took home the $10,000 champion’s check and a Kangen Water Iconic Filtration System by Enagic.
Jack Townsend, a junior at San Diego State, strung together three days of 3-over-par to finish T-32nd and take home Low Amateur.
The revival of the San Diego County Open after 20 years was made possible by Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake and its dedicated staff, including host PGA Professional Neil Finch, PGA.
