2022 Rolex Southern California PGA Players of the Year

Congratulations to our six Rolex Southern California PGA members listed below for earning the 2022 Rolex Players of the Year honors. Each year, the Southern California PGA awards the highest points-getter in each division the title of Player of the Year across six divisions. The point total starts at the beginning of each season, and each PGA Professional accumulates points based on finish in each tournament they play in their respective divisions: Section, Women’s, Senior, Super Senior, and APA.

For the ninth time in his career and fifth straight year, Michael Block, PGA, of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, earned the 2022 Rolex Southern California PGA Player of the Year with 1,592.50 points. In his 11 events on the year, Block won the Four-Ball Championship on March 14 and the Section PGA Professional Championship on September 21. He also recorded nine top-five finishes in his 11 events played.

Dr. Alison Curdt, PGA, of Wood Ranch Golf Club, claimed her seventh straight Rolex Women’s Player of the Year award. She finished the season with six events played and 261 points on the year. She won the Women’s Division: Team Championship and the Women’s Match Play Championship.

Rick Garboski, PGA, of the Golf Development Complex, claimed his first-ever Rolex Senior Player of the Year with 806.17 points in his 13 events played. Garboski was a two-time winner on the year, winning at the XXIO Laguna Woods Pro-Am and the Northern 2-Day.

Marianne Huning, PGA, of Bel-Air Country Club, earned her first-ever Rolex Women’s Senior Player of the Year with 200 points in three events. Huning won all three events she played in.

Ryan Nomura of Spanish Hills Club ran away with the Rolex APA Player of the Year with 174.75 points in his four events played. His best finish came at the Stroke Play Championship with T1.

Paul Wise, PGA, of Hillcrest Country Club, recorded his third Rolex Super Senior Player of the Year with a demanding 520 points in his 14 events played. Wise recorded nine wins on the year and never finished outside the top four in all 14 events.

These individuals will be honored at the 2022 SCPGA Presidents Dinner in Newport Beach on December 11 alongside the SCPGA Special Award winners.
