Gormley/Wada and Anderson/Schafer are the Champions of the Professional-Junior Championship!
The Golf Club of CaliforniaFALLBROOK, CA (July 11, 2022) – Gormley/Wada and Anderson/Schafer take home the hardware in the Professional-Junior Championship at The Golf Club of California!
34 teams arrived to compete in the annual event that pairs a junior under the age of 18 with a PGA Professional member. Playing in a Four-Ball format, this event is a great opportunity for PGA Members to share the course with a junior golfer. Juniors get an inside look at the career path that a PGA Member makes while making for a memorable day on the course.
In the Boys Division, it was the duo from Palos Verdes Golf Club that topped the field of talented teams with Jim Gormley, PGA and Kyle Wada carding an eight-under par, 64, with seven bridies and an eagle to win by a single stroke.
In the Girls Division, David Anderson, PGA of KBS Shafts and his playing partner Summer Schafer elevated to the top of the skilled leaderboard with a four-under par, 68, and to win the division by one shot
Congratulations to Jim Gormley with his skin on hole #2 with an eagle and Mike Fergin with the birdie on hole #9 to claim the second skin out today.
Much appreciation to our Section partner Titleist for supporting the event and providing each junior participant with a tee gift and the top three teams in each division with swag. Special thanks to host facility The Golf Club of California and host PGA Professional Don Gatch.
