December 7-8, 2022 | The Journey at Pechanga

TEMECULA, CA (December 8th, 2022) Team Southern California PGA (SCPGA) is the 2022 Honors Match champions with a team score of 32 to 22 over the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) while Team SCGA emerged victorious in the 2022 Women’s Cup Matches after posting a team score of 19 to 17, defeating team SCPGA.

Since 2007, the Honors Matches showcase the best amateurs of Southern California that represent the SCGA and take on the SCPGA professionals in the twelve person teams. The Women’s Cup matches began in 2010 where the Southern California PGA’s top eight women from the Women’s Player of the Year standings play Southern California Women’s Amateurs top players.

The Honors Match Team for the SCPGA is selected based on current season Section Player of the Year points. Of the 12-person team, 4 are seniors that are also chosen from the Section Player of the Year standings. Participants must be a Class A member. The Matches are biennial hosted on the even years. These events are both two-day event that include 18-hole team matches of four ball match play on day one followed by singles matches on the final day. The Matches are both also hosted on a biennial schedule, on the even years.

Grateful appreciation goes out to Puma Golf and Ahead for donning team SCPGA with uniforms for the matches. Thank you to the wonderful Pechanga Resort and Casino for hosting these events at their facility this year. Special thanks to The Journey at Pechanga Director of Golf, Scott Mallory, PGA, and Superintendent Mario Ramirez, plus the entire golf course team for their hospitality and support with these matches.
