Southern California Assistant PGA Professional Championship

July 26th, 2021 | Victoria Club

Mark Geddes goes low to win the 2021 National Car Rental Southern California Assistant PGA Professional Champion after shooting an eight-under par total 136.

Forty-six Assistant Professionals congregated at the classic Victoria Club in Riverside, CA hoping to earn a spot into the 45th PGA Assistant National Championship.

Geddes, of Coronado Golf Course, found himself tied for the lead with Blake Schmitt of Ironwood Country Club and Scott Cherry of Mission Hills Country Club after turning in a three-under 69 in the rainy first round of the 36-hole day. The best was yet to come for Geddes; however, as he turned on the heat in the afternoon firing a five-under par 67.

“It means a lot to win . . . it was a tough day mentality, it started off with steaming rain in the morning and when the sun came out it got hot and sticky. It was vital to take one swing at a time,” said Geddes.

The following four players will be joining Geddes at the 45th PGA Assistant National Championship November 11-14, 2021 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Blake Schmitt, Ironwood Country Club
