There are two pathways that lead to PGA membership — the PGA PGM Associate Program and the PGA Golf Management University Program.
Making the Game Better for Nearly 100 Years
The Southern California Section of the PGA of America was established in 1924, and today is comprised of over 1,700 Golf Professionals working at over 500 facilities within the Section. The mission of the Southern California Section (SCPGA) is the purpose of the PGA of America, to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry. The SCPGA provides competitive playing opportunities, educational seminars, and player development initiatives, within a geographic area that stretches from Baywood Park to the Mexican border and from the Pacific Ocean to the Nevada and Arizona borders.

We are excited to highlight our current board members for Women’s History Month this Friday. These incredible women are the epitome making history and paving the way.

Dr. Alison Curdt, PGA: Dr. Curdt is one of only two women to hold the title of PGA Master Professional in Instruction and LPGA Master Professional. She operates as the Director of Instruction at Wood Ranch Golf Club, while being dedicated to her private practice of psychotherapy at Curdt Performance Therapy. Dr. Curdt’s ability as an instructor has been recognized by the LPGA and SCPGA on numerous occasions. Most notably, she was named LPGA National Teacher of the Year in 2015, in 2016 she was awarded SCPGA Teacher of the Year, and received SCPGA Golf Professional of the Year honors in 2019. She has also been inducted into the SCPGA Teaching Hall of Fame. She has been recognized by GOLF Magazine (Top 8 Teacher to Watch) and 2-time LPGA Top 50 Instructor. Dr. Curdt, following service as a Director on the SCPGA Board from 2016 through 2020, is currently serving as the Secretary for the SCPGA, the first woman Officer of the Section.

Kim Falcone, PGA: Falcone is currently the Assistant Head Golf Professional at La Jolla Country Club and the chair of the SCPGA Women’s Committee. She has served on the SCPGA Board of Directors since 2017 to present and also sits on the Tournament, Communications & Marketing, Finance/Investment, Education, and; Special Awards committees for the Section. In 2012, Kim was recognized as the SCPGA Assistant Golf Professional of the Year.

Seiko Matsumura, PGA: Matsumura is a Teaching Professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, where she and her husband Aki Matsumura, PGA direct Matsumura Golf and provide lessons for all ages seven and up. Seiko began playing golf at the age of 7 and played her first golf tournament at 9, where she spent most of her junior golf days playing the SCPGA Junior Tour. Seiko went on to play Division I Golf for the University of Southern California. She is now a certified Master Coach and serves on the SCPGA Board of Directors as a member of the Women’s committee, and leads for the GIBS education series.

Tina Mickelson, PGA: Tina, of the San Diego Chapter, is the sister of the famous Mickelson family, Tina became a PGA Class “A” member in 1994. She acts as a Callaway Golf Ambassador and an Ambassador for Women’s Golf at the Santaluz Club in San Diego. She hosts clinics, seminars, lessons and a variety of special events including public speaking, corporate outings and group events.

Kim Schilling, PGA: Ms. Schilling currently serves as the Head Professional at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, CA. She is a Quarter Century Member (2017) and received honors in PGA Professional Development in 2007. Finally, she has served the Inland Empire Chapter as a board member and president.

Meredith Foster, PGA: Ms. Foster holds the position of Assistant Professional at The Reserve, in Palm Desert, CA. She was named Assistant Professional of the Year in 2009. She was also Desert Chapter President in 2013-2014 and served on the Section board in 2010 and 2011.

Holly Kennedy, PGA: Ms. Kennedy is the owner of Kennedy Golf, LLC and Emerald Isle Golf Course in Oceanside, CA. Alongside golf club ownership, Ms. Kennedy serves as President of the San Diego Junior Golf Association and has been on the Board of Directors since 2005. She was the recipient of the SCPGA Section Player Development Award in 2015 and has also served the San Diego Chapter.

Susan Roll, PGA: Ms. Roll is the owner of Carlsbad Golf Center, a multifaceted golf facility that serves as a driving range, club fitting center, and golf shop that serves all of the Carlsbad golf community. Ms Rosll was named SCPGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2011, and is to date, the only female member of the SCPGA Hall of Fame. Susan served as San Diego Chapter President in 2009-2010, a SCPGA Board member from 2009 through 2016, and currently serves on the SCPGA Foundation Board of Directors.

Member Service Requirements, MSR, is a requirement of PGA Members. The current cycle is Cycle 15A: June 16, 2018 – June 15, 2021.
