Making the Game Better for Nearly 100 Years
The Southern California Section of the PGA of America was established in 1924, and today is comprised of over 1,700 Golf Professionals working at over 500 facilities within the Section. The mission of the Southern California Section (SCPGA) is the purpose of the PGA of America, to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry. The SCPGA provides competitive playing opportunities, educational seminars, and player development initiatives, within a geographic area that stretches from Baywood Park to the Mexican border and from the Pacific Ocean to the Nevada and Arizona borders.

The Playing Ability Test or “PAT” is a measure of golfing ability. It means PGA Professionals have the skills needed to teach and grow the game.
Member Service Requirements, MSR, is a requirement of PGA Members. The current cycle is Cycle 15A: June 16, 2018 – June 15, 2021.
These Best Practices have proven effective at facilities across the country. Player Development is not only about instruction, it is also very much about exposure and engagement with your customers. The most successful programs integrate both golf instruction and a social component.
