Tony Letendre, PGA, Assistant General Manager of Dove Canyon Golf Club, took the seat of President for the Southern California PGA at the Section’s Annual Meeting at The Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles.
Letendre will serve for two years as president and chairman of the board and join his fellow officers, Vice President Robin Shelton, of SeaCliff Country Club, and Secretary Eric Lohman, of Monarch Beach Golf Links. Immediate Past President Todd Keefer, of The Wilshire Country Club, will serve on the board as Honorary President.
Southern California PGA board members include Scott Heyn, Joe Grohman, Mike Van Der Goes, chapter representatives Kendall Palu (Desert), Steve Adamiak (Inland Empire), Vic Placeres (Metro), David Mowery (San Diego), and Mike Valdez (Northern). Rob Oosterhuis, Randy Chang and Alison Curdt were elected at the Annual Meeting and will fill the three open board member positions and Mike van der Goes was elected to fill Derek Hardy’s position on the board. President Letendre appointed incumbent Kim Falcone and former SCGA president Ed Holmes as the Independent Directors serving on the Board.
“It is a tremendous honor to be elected the 39th president of the Southern California PGA. My term parallels a pivotal time in our association in that we have our first female president [Suzy Whaley, PGA] and I hope to continue the great work of those who served before me. To borrow the words of Aloha Section Executive Director Wes Wailehua, “Everything we do creates a legacy for the Section; not the President.” I look forward to the next two years working with my fellow Officers, the Board of Directors and the SCPGA Team as we drive the 3rd largest Section in the country down the middle of the fairway into the future!” said President Letendre.
