Alison has risen to the top of her field in Los Angeles and paved the way for her career to be recognized as one of the best women teachers and golf professionals in the country. The past few years in particular, she has accomplished much on so many levels to bring her teaching and professional career to new heights. A member since 2006, Alison continued her education as a certified professional in 2007 and completed the Master Professional program in 2011. She currently sits on the SCPGA Board of Directors and is a member of the Womens Committee.
She has maintained a stellar playing record being a top player in the country. Alison is a 2-time SCPGA Omega Women’s Player of the Year, qualified and played in 5 LPGA Major Championships within the past 6 years, and is a two-time winner of the Women’s PGA Section Championship. She recently qualified for the 2018 PGA Professional Championship and was the first woman from Southern California to earn a spot at the national championship.
Alison exemplifies the quality of a PGA Member by growing the game of golf and leading other members to success. Elite golf professionals should be well rounded, excelling in various areas of the business and personal development. Alison is a golf professional who embodies these characteristics.
Shawn has been working in the golf business for 25 years. He has had a well- rounded career and worked his way up to being a Director of Golf at a 5-Star Golf Resort and Private Club. At every facility he has tried to embody the role of a PGA Professional and to provide the best experience for every guest. His primary role is to inspire and create more rounds of golf for everyone he comes in contact with daily.
He is a multi-award winner for both the San Diego Chapter and the SCPGA Section. He has held all of the officer positions including president for the San Diego Chapter, chaired the Chapter Education Committee for nearly 10 years and is currently on the SCPGA Teaching Committee. This year he will host the 2018 California Coaching Summit at The Grand Golf Club. This event will have 200 plus attendees and it is his responsibility to make sure this is the best event on the West Coast.
Shawn has his certification in the PGA of America’s Teaching & Coaching program and gives his time to the Wounded Warrior program and is a true example of what a PGA Golf Professional should be.
As a PGA Member and Director for the SCPGA Board, it is one of Rob’s chief goals to enhance the perception of the PGA Professional and develop opportunities for them in all levels of the golf, club and hospitality industries. In his role as a Golf Professional, he has been given a number of opportunities to excel in recent years; managing a club to its preparation and closure for renovation (Montecito Country Club) and in reopening a club following a renovation (Sherwood Country Club, as well as Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club). Montecito successfully transitioned the majority of its staff to other positions leading up to the closure and Sherwood was named to the Platinum Clubs of America list.
Through his recent achievements, his PGA colleagues can see that he can go well beyond the golf course and that there are clubs willing to go unconventional routes to find the best club leadership and golf professionals truly understand the heartbeat of a club with golf at its core.
In addition to being a PGA Member, he has extended his professional education into the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) and has earned his Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation (one of a handful of PGA Members to do so), entering the CMAA Honors Society and within the next year is expected to earn his Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation.
Rob has served on the Education, Mentoring, Communications and Employment committees for the SCPGA. His heavy involvement with the PGA and CMAA has allowed him in many instances over the past five years to stand as the lone PGA representative at many meetings, seminars and conferences, and illustrate what the modern day PGA Professional is and to what extent we can lead in this industry.
