FINAL RECAP (RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA) – Kenny Pigman of Goose Creek Golf Club goes back-to-back in the Southern California Assistant PGA Professional Championship with his win at Red Hill Country Club. Pigman posted rounds of 73-64 (-7) for a three-shot margin in the Section’s Assistant Championship, winning the Championship for his third time (2014, 17, 18).
Scott Cherry of Mission Hills Country Club took the solo lead after the first round posting a 5-under par, 67 and one shot over Michael D’Angelo who carded a 68. Fourteen players found themselves at even par or better after round one.
Pigman, who opened with a one-over par 73, found himself six shots back going into round two but got his afternoon rolling with a blemish-free front nine that include four birdies. Pigman stayed hot down the stretch, rallying off another five birdies to one bogey to card an eight-under par, 64, in the second round and pull away from the field.
Four players will represent the SCPGA in the Assistant PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club, Wanamaker Course, in Port St. Lucie, Florida on November 15-18, 2018: Kenny Pigman, Patrick Strandemo, Scott Cherry & Bobby Nickell. Best of luck to these individuals and congratulations!
