Eleven golf clubs, represented by superintendents, managers, and professionals, gathered at the Glen Ivy Golf Club in Corona, Ca on Monday November 2nd, for the 2015 Superintendent-Professional-Manager Championship presented by E-Z-GO. The players were treated to a wonderful round of golf that included lunch, tee gifts and a sizeable purse for the top finishers, as well as hors-d’oeuvres and awards following the round.
At noon, 44 high ranking officials piled in their carts and headed out for a fun filled afternoon of golf and libations. Glen Ivy was in great shape, show casing their carpet like fairways and magnificent views as the players wound through the scenic terrain in the hills of Corona building to a crescendo on the 18th hole. The tee box sits nearly 100 yards above the fairway below, enticing the longer hitters to go for the green that sits 415 yards away. Some just couldn’t pass up the chance to tee it high and let her fly.
The format for this event is a modified Fourball where the low gross and net score were added together to give a score for each hole. Indian Hills Country Club was on their A-game, led by General Manager Jeremy Clevenger, they carded an impressive 21 under par 121. When it was all said and done, Jeremy and his partners Junior Cortez, Scott Vlahos, and Charlie Cox carded the lowest score in this events history under the current format. Congratulations to them on their outstanding play!
The Superintendent-Professional-Manager Championship has always been a special event to the SCPGA as well as those that play, emphasizing a gratitude to those in the industry that make it all happen. Many of them find very few opportunities to play the game they fell in love with at a younger age that spurred them into the positions they hold today. The Southern California would like to thank those that participated for all their contributions to the game of golf. Thank you to the presenting sponsor E-Z-GO for their generous donation and contributions to this event as well as Capital Insurance Group, Golf Insurance Services, US Foods, and Pepsi. The SCPGA would also like to thank the host facility Glen Ivy and General Manager Bryan Addis, PGA for their partnership with this year’s event.
