RIVERSIDE, California – The Southern California PGA Foundation successfully delivered eight sets of clubs to the girls golf team at Ramona High School. As part of the ClubsForeYouth program, the SCPGA Foundation is overjoyed to make an impact on the lives of youth golfers throughout our community.
Eight players players arrived, one week prior to the school year beginning to receive their brand new Wilson golf clubs! These players will get to personally keep these sets, even after the golf season is completed, ensuring their continued interest in the game of golf well beyond graduation. Madison Packer, a member of the team said, ” I feel really grateful because even though we just started this program, we have girls joining that want to get more involved, but don’t have the right equipment to play.” This idea directly aligns with the mission of the ClubsForeYouth program, which is to provide high school aged females throughout Southern California with the necessary golf equipment to compete and experience the game of golf.
Ramona High School Athletic Director, John Tibbels said, “It’s an awesome experience, many of our kids who come to Ramona High School have never played golf before, and most don’t have adequate equipment. We are truly excited about the opportunity provided by the SCPGA Foundation and the ClubsForeYouth program.” Reseach conducted by the SCPGA Foundation has suggested that as much as 70% of girls compete with secondhand, borderline serviceable equipment in high school girls golf team matches.
Ramona H.S. Girls Head Golf Coach, Roman Comaduran said, “Receiving these clubs builds the kids self esteem, to be handed something brand new establishes excitement, momentum, and enthusiasm for the game of golf!” This program is shaping into a highly impactful outreach for the community. By providing the necessary equipment, the SCPGA Foundation is fostering the love of the game in the hearts of many youth golfers!
Ramona High School Athletic Director John Tibbels closed out the afternoon by stating that, “We truly appreciate the SCPGA Foundation providing this opportunity for our girls, Ramona High School truly appreciates it!”
