LA QUINTA, California – Brian Smock, PGA of Coronado Golf Course kept the birdies rolling to prevail in an exciting playoff and win The Stroke Play Classic at Andalusia Country Club.
Steve Saunders (66-68) of Temecula Creek Inn and Brian Smock (69-65) were knotted atop the leaderboard after 36-holes both posting 10-under par 134. It required an additional three-hole playoff to determine the champion. Saunders and Smock matched birdies on the first two attempts in the playoff on the par 5 18th, but Smock’s third birdie was the charm.
Four players earned skins- Brent Smith, Kenny Pigman, Scott Mallory and Gary Sowinski.
